Cargo Services

Specialised facilities are provided at Napier Port for the storage and handling of dry, bulk and unit cargoes such as fertiliser, cement and logs.

FERTILISER

Higgins Wharf (2 North) is the main berth for fertiliser discharge. Present cargoes include rock phosphate, sulphur, fertiliser bases and high analysis fertilisers.

No. 10 Shed 28,000m3 (General Fertiliser)

Both sheds are leased by Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-op Ltd and are fed by an 800 tonne per hour conveyor with a continuous belt weigher from a receiving hopper adjacent to Higgins Wharf (2 North). Mobile Plant includes: Hoppers 4 - 50m3 (50T) fully mobile with vibrators and Front End Loaders, 6m3 available.

Golden Bay - two silos 3475 tonnes capacity

Both companies have extensive bagging operations and can deliver bulk or bagged product to road or rail supplying the coastal trade.

WOODCHIPS

Pan Pac Forest Products operate a woodchip facility at Napier Port. The stockpile covers an area of approx. 1.2 hectares and is up to 15 metres high. A conveyorsystem has been built to cater for unloading trucks, stockpiling chips and loading ships. For further information contact Pan Pac. Marshalling is handled by Lambert Group who operate under contract to Pan Pac. Lambert’s operate CAT D10, CATD9, CAT D8, CAT 988 Loader.

WHARVES

200mm heated pipelines connect the storagearea to 5 South and 4 West for imports and exports. Load out rate: 350 tonnes per hour.

STORAGE CAPACITY

6450 tonne capacity tank farm operated by Grain Corp Ltd. Direct road and rail connections. Drumming facilities are available.

 

PETROLEUM

WHARVES

Discharge point at 2 South. 250mm lines connect storage tanks.

STORAGE CAPACITY

Operated by independent oil companies off wharf in Ahuriri, Napier.

FACILITIES

Regulation safety fence and tanker watchmen are provided by Napier Port during operations.

 

BITUMEN

STORAGE CAPACITY

Total 5000 tonnes in tanks operated by BelsprayBitumen. Direct load out to road and rail.
