GENERAL CARGO VEHICLE BOOKING SYSTEM (VBS) PILOT

GENERAL CARGO VBS

HOW TO MAKE A VBS BOOKING

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Previously, transport operators of general/bulk cargo have been able to arrive at the port at any time between 0700hrs and 1630hrs.  To combat growing traffic congestion and ensure safety standards and efficiencies of truck turnaround, we are introducing a forecasting process and a pilot Vehicle Booking System (VBS) to the General Cargo Receipt and Delivery (R&D) operation.

How does the Forecast process work?

Transport Operators must provide a Forecast Spreadsheet to generalcargo@napierport.co.nz by 09:45hrs the previous working day.

To keep truck turnaround times consistent we need to be able to match the labour resource available to the workload required, so we are asking transport operators to complete a Forecast Spreadsheet and email it to General Cargo by 09:45hrs the previous working day.

Below is an example forecast spreadsheet. This spreadsheet would need to be emailed to General Cargo by 9:45hrs Monday 29 January, for pick up from port Tuesday 30 January.

How does the General Cargo VBS pilot work?

Transport Operators must make a booking in the General Cargo VBS at least 2 hours prior to arrival

Transport operators are required to make a General Cargo VBS booking for all pick-ups and deliveries (receipts & dispatches).  Our hours of operation will remain the same – Monday to Friday 07.00 – 17.00hrs, and bookings are available at 30 minute intervals during these hours.

The last booking will be allowed entry at 16.30hrs, with the exception of trucks using tarpaulin, which must be here by 16.00hrs.

It is important to book in advance, bookings can be made up to 2 hours before arrival.

The VBS pilot uses a booking system called “bookedin.com” you can access the General Cargo VBS using the following link.
