VGM requirements from 1 July 2016

With recent changes to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention, all shippers will need to provide a verified gross mass (VGM) weight for every container before it can be exported through Napier Port. To ensure that your exports are not held up due to missing information, we strongly recommend having this practice in place by 15 June 2016.

How do I advise the VGM of my container?

There are two methods available for pre-advising the verified gross mass of your export containers.

Online Community Access Portal
Register for our Community Access Portal to log the VGM of your container online. This process allows shippers to pre-advise all relevant details to ensure a seamless flow through the port.

Business-to-business EDI
Those with an electronic EDI messaging system can pre-advise the VGM of their containers through B2B EDI. This option is best suited to shippers exporting large volumes. Please contact VGMenquiry@napierport.co.nz to arrange the use of this system.

Thank you to all those who have already registered for the Community Access Portal or are advising VGM through EDI.
