Napier Port is facing a peak export season with the highest ever container movements, so it is streamlining its processes to ensure traffic flows efficiently into and out of the port.
We are working at all levels to create capacity right now. We have recruited more people, brought in more machines, and repurposed space to maximise the capacity available within the ports existing footprint. Now it’s about refining our processes.
Through discussion with industry, and careful analysis of traffic within the port, we’ve identified several opportunities. These will streamline the movement of traffic through the port by minimising peaks and troughs, ensure import containers can be accessed quickly and easily, and that transport operators can enter and exit the port efficiently.
These changes are effective from Monday 6th March.
With these changes, we can ensure the most efficient traffic flow and turnaround times for all transport operators.
We thank the transport industry for your input and feedback on these changes, and for your support in making a smooth transition to the new process.
