Eastern Gate road works scheduled from Sunday 12 December to Tuesday 14 December
Kia ora,
We are planning to undertake road works to reseal portions of our Eastern Gate entrance roadway from Sunday 12 December to Tuesday 14 December. As part of these works the Eastern Gate will be reduced to one lane with Traffic Management Plans (TMP) in operation.
WHEN:
Milling work will start from approximately 7am on Sunday 12 December and continue throughout the day. Asphalting is scheduled to take place on Monday evening from 6pm and is expected to be finished by early morning Tuesday 14 December.
WHERE:
LOCATION 1 – EASTERN GATE BREAKWATER ROAD TURN-OFF
The first part of the road works is a Waka Kotahi NZTA project to reseal the Eastern Gate Breakwater Road turn-off area, as indicated in green in the TMP image below.
Higgins will be carrying out these works and will position Stop and Go operators and signage on either side of the turn-off area to manage traffic flows.
Important Note: There will be short periods of time where port traffic may have to wait 15-20 minutes.
LOCATION 2 – EASTERN GATE
The second part of the road works involves resealing the gatehouse entrance zone, as indicated in green in the TMP image below.
Again, Higgins will be carrying out these works and will position Stop and Go operators and signage on either side of the Eastern Gate to manage traffic flows.
Important: The Port Pass barriers will be operated manually during these works. Napier Port security will be checking passes, so please be sure to stop to show your pass on entry and exit. Please also expect slight delays when using the Eastern Gate.
THANK YOU
Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we continue the important work of making the port safer for everyone.

Sustainability aligned with global goals:
At the United Nations summit meeting in September 2015, world leaders adopted 17 global goals (and 169 targets) as a set of universal goals that aim to address the urgent environmental, political and economic challenges facing our world. These are known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
