Important Update – swell event shipping restrictions ongoing
As a further update, the strong swell event arrived at Napier Port yesterday morning. Unfortunately, the swell is more severe than originally forecast and the duration is now set to extend out further to Tuesday morning (29 March).
We expect to restrict shipping at our container terminal (5 Wharf) for the duration of this swell event, with the Rio Negro now omitted from Napier.
Once again, we appreciate that these restrictions will cause further disruption to what has already been a challenging season. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work through these frustrating circumstances.
We will be sure to be in touch with any further updates.
Ngā mihi,
Chris Wylie
Container Terminal Manager

Sustainability aligned with global goals:
At the United Nations summit meeting in September 2015, world leaders adopted 17 global goals (and 169 targets) as a set of universal goals that aim to address the urgent environmental, political and economic challenges facing our world. These are known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
More information on the SDGs and how Napier Port’s Sustainability Strategy aligns to these can be found here >>
