As we move into alert level 3 from Tuesday 28 April, Napier Port is making adjustments to our operations and operational resources in order to ensure we keep cargo flowing through the port.

Firstly, the port team would like to thank all of our customers and partners for their continued support and cooperation during the lockdown period. The last five weeks have been a challenging time, but with your assistance we have been able to successfully keep our people healthy and safe and therefore provide you with a consistent level of service.

Alert level 3 update
Secondly, we will continue to prioritise health and safety in alert level 3, and the public health guidelines at this level do allow us to increase our operational resources moving forward. We will retain the shift change closure during the day to enable us to safely and effectively maintain social distancing during shift change, as well as allow our teams to disinfect vehicle and equipment between shifts.

We have also reviewed our hours of operation for alert level 3 and will be supporting our customers by opening our gates earlier each morning. Effective from Tuesday 28 April, the Container Terminal will open for R&D at 7:00am from Monday to Saturday. We will also retain the late process slots from Monday to Friday until 9:00pm. These changes open up an extra 45 VBS slots available per day, with a total of 225 slots per week. Finally, as we are able to increase our operational resources in alert level 3, we will be reverting back to our regular vessel berth schedule windows effective from Wednesday 29 April. We will also have the operational capability to service vessels based on their full agreed container exchanges, with shipping lines advised of this change yesterday.
