It was another successful year for the Napier Port Ocean Swim, with hundreds diving headfirst into a new challenge.
Held on Saturday 17 February, the fourth Napier Port Ocean Swim attracted a record crowd. A whopping 210 competitors took to the water, supported by their family and friends.
Napier Port is the primary sponsor of this annual event, which raises funds for the Napier Aquahawks Swim Club. The club runs the competition with support from Surf Life Saving New Zealand, Sport Hawke’s Bay and TriHB.
The weather gods turned on perfect swimming conditions and the sunny skies made for a great family atmosphere. The Napier Port tent was packed full of staff, supporters, and the young Westshore Surf Lifesaving Club athletes supported by Napier Port.
Most races were won by local swimmers, primarily from Westshore SLC and the Napier Aquahawks.
Organiser Trevor Adsett says it was a fantastic day made possible by the support of Napier Port, and raised valuable funds for the Napier Aquahawks Swim Club.
