New Weekly MSC Southern Loop Service Commences at Napier Port
June 16th, 2026
Kia ora,
Napier Port is pleased to advise customers of the commencement of MSC’s new weekly Southern Loop service, following the arrival of the inaugural vessel, MSC Rini III, on Thursday 11 June 2026.
The service provides customers with additional international shipping options, connecting cargo via Melbourne into MSC’s global network and offering access to Asia and a wide range of onward destinations. Weekly calls are scheduled as part of the service.
The Southern Loop service follows the recent introduction of MSC’s Eagle Service, which commenced weekly calls to Napier Port on 31 May, providing direct access to the United States market along with onward transhipment opportunities into Europe. Together, these services significantly enhance global connectivity for Hawke’s Bay importers and exporters, providing greater flexibility, market access and supply chain resilience.
We welcome this expansion of MSC’s service offering at Napier Port, further strengthening the range of shipping solutions available to our customers and supporting the region’s continued trade growth. The addition of both the Southern Loop and Eagle services reflects continued confidence in Hawke’s Bay’s export sector and reinforces Napier Port’s role as a key gateway connecting regional producers with international markets.
At the United Nations summit meeting in September 2015, world leaders adopted 17 global goals (and 169 targets) as a set of universal goals that aim to address the urgent environmental, political and economic challenges facing our world. These are known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
