Our Master Plan

Napier Port is planning ahead

As our region changes, Napier Port needs to change too. We’re looking to the ahead to ensure we can continue to serve our customers, our region, and our community.

We’re reviewing the shape of our master plan, which guides our investment in infrastructure, equipment and capability in the years ahead. The key objectives of the plan are to:

  • Drive supply chain and port efficiency
  • Facilitate growing cargo volumes
  • Help our region thrive
  • Identify and secure important supply channels – road, rail and sea
  • Enhance and protect our environment through sustainable practices
  • Engage all our stakeholders in Napier Port’s future vision

Your views are helping to shape the Master Plan

Planning tomorrow’s port is a partnership.

We’re working closely with customers and talking to regulators, local and central government, business and industry groups as well as the community to build a strong understanding of their expectations and the future trade landscape.

At the end of 2018 we also asked the community via an online survey what they wanted us to focus on as we review the Plan. These were the top eight issues you asked to consider:

  • Port security and the safety of people working there
  • Growing Hawke’s Bay’s economy
  • Napier Port’s vision for the future
  • Protecting port access / supply chains (sea channels)
  • Protecting our environment and minimising Napier Port’s impacts
  • Growing cargo volumes
  • Protecting port access / supply chains (rail corridors)
  • Protecting port access / supply chains (road corridors)
