Port will close from Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight
Kia ora,
Further to our advisory yesterday afternoon (available here), updated forecasts now indicate high winds from approximately 2:00am through to 6:00pm on Sunday.
As a result, the Western Gate will now also be closed from midnight tonight (Saturday) through to midnight Sunday. The Eastern Gate will remain closed from 5:00pm today, as previously advised, until further notice. VMS signage will be in place to advise of these access changes.
Security will remain based at the Western Gate from 5:00pm today and throughout the night.
These additional measures are being implemented as a safety precaution in response to the forecast wind conditions. The safety of our people, customers, and port users remains our priority.
We will reassess weather conditions, operations, and port access again tomorrow morning, with a further update to follow.
Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation during this period.
At the United Nations summit meeting in September 2015, world leaders adopted 17 global goals (and 169 targets) as a set of universal goals that aim to address the urgent environmental, political and economic challenges facing our world. These are known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
