As mentioned last month (here), Napier Port is implementing a change to our import container collection process starting from tomorrow – Tuesday 2 March 2021.
From Tuesday 2 March 2021, importers and transport operators will be required to collect their containers in an AM time frame or a PM time frame, on the required day of collection. This updated process will allow our container terminal to run more efficiently, as our team will be able to plan in advance the daily time frames that specific containers need to be made available.
What does the new process mean for you?
The new time frames for import container collection are as follows:
AM Time Frame – 0700 to 1230 (0700 to 1100 Time Zone)
PM Time Frame – 1200 to 2100 (1200 to 2000 Time Zone)
Transport Operators will need to update the Import Portal with their specific time frame by 1900 on the day prior to collection at the latest. Sundays are an exception to this timing and instead the Import Portal must be updated by 1200 at the latest. If an import container is booked for an AM collection and the transport operator is unable to collect within the allocated time frame, then the Import Portal must be updated again for collection the following day. For example, if an import container is booked for a Monday AM collection but the transport operator fails to pick this up within the AM time frame, then the earliest that they can arrange to collect this container would be Tuesday AM.
(Note: You will not be able to rebook for the PM time frame on the same day.)
New codes for the Import Portal
Given the new process above, we have created a number of new codes to input into the Import Portal where A stands for AM and P stands for PM:
MON becomes MOA or MOP
TUE becomes TUA or TUP
WED becomes WEA or WEP
THU becomes THA or THP
FRI becomes FRA or FRP
SAT becomes SAA
Important Note: Please be aware that this new import container collection process does not affect Group Block Stacks. You can continue to book these as per the current procedure, and we encourage you to use this function where possible given it will not have the same restrictions as day pick-ups.
If you have any technical questions about import collections and updating the Import Portal, please contact Napier Port’s Western Gate Team – WestG@napierport.co.nz.
